Reading Program for Adults
"Get Between the Covers and Read"
January 15 - March 15

The Pigeon District Library is hosting its fourth, annual adult winter reading program from January 16 - March 15.  The program is open to Pigeon District Library cardholders, ages eighteen and above, who check out books, audio books, books on CD, or Playaway audio books.    No sign-up is required and participation in the program is optional.

An entry slip will be given to each adult patron who checks out books, audio books, books on CD, or Playaway audio books between January 16 and March 15.  If the patron wishes to participate in the program, he/she simply fills out the entry slip when checking out qualifying materials and puts it in the reading program box.

Many businesses in the library's service area donate items that are used in the prize drawings held throughout the reading program. Drawings for prizes will be ehld from the entry slips that have been returned the previous week. At the end of the program, a party with food and treats will be held for the reading program participants and all of the entry slips from the eight weekly drawings will be combined for more prize drawings.

The library staff and patrons have found that the program helps adult patrons pass the time on these cold, winter days and is a LOT of fun for our adult readers.  Prizes include books, bird houses, candy, free food cards, gift baskets, gift certificates, picture frames, and much more. Businesses that donate to the reading program are recognized in the prize display at the library, in the library's weekly news and other publicity, and at the end-of-program party.

The Pigeon District Library provides library service to residents and property owners in the City of Caseville and the townships of Caseville, Chandler, Fairhaven, McKinley, Oliver, and Winsor.  Anyone with questions about library membership or the program can contact the library at 989-453-2341 to speak with Library Director Jeanette Bach.
