JEAN M. R. SMITH COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Jean M. R. Smith Foundation was established in 1996 for the primary purpose of granting college scholarships to Huron County high school seniors seeking to obtain an undergraduate degree. Scholarships may be awarded to students initially attending community colleges. Seventy scholarships have been awarded since inception.

The Foundation is planning to award up to fifteen scholarships to high school seniors. The current grant is up to $20,000 ($5,000 per year) per scholarship. Scholarships may be renewed each year up to three additional academic years if the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress. The scholarship may be used to pay tuition, fees, room, board, books and in place of student loans.

Applicants must be Huron County residents. Scholarship selection criteria include character, academic achievement, extra curricular activities, community service activities and financial need.

Please note that ACT scores, EFC, anticipated loans and scholarship amounts must be included or the application will be designated as "incomplete". Incomplete applications will not be considered. Completed applications should be mailed to Jean M. R. Smith Foundation at the address listed below. The deadline for receiving applications is April 1 each year.
