Pigeon District Library
Library Code of Conduct
The Board of Trustees of the Pigeon District Library has adopted
the following code to foster a climate of respect, comfort, and
welcome within the library for all library patrons and staff.
Parents are responsible for the safety or well-being of children left on Library property. Children under 8 must be attended by a responsible adult.
Eating or drinking is prohibited, except in designated areas - Community Room or periodical section of Reference Room.
Appropriate attire, including shirts and shoes, must be worn at all times
in the Library.
Behavior which can be expected to disturb library staff or patrons is not tolerated. Such behavior includes, but is not limited to:
Disorderly conduct
Loud or abusive language
Radios, cell phones, CD/tape players or other electronic equipment used in a manner which disturbs other patrons.
Animals, other than those trained to assist disabled users, are not permitted in public areas of the Library.
Smoking or other uses of tobacco or tobacco products and alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the Library.
No solicitation within the Library buildings or on its grounds is permissible without the express consent of the Library director.
The library is not responsible for personal belongings left in or on library property.
Mutilation, misuse, or destruction of Library buildings, materials or equipment is prohibited.
All Library material or equipment being removed from the premises must be properly checked out.
Any patron who fails to comply with the above provisions of the Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the Library premises. Continued non-compliance may
result in the loss of Library privileges. Behavior that is illegal or that threatens the health or safety of other patrons, staff or volunteers will be reported to the police.
