Library Card Information:
Residents and property owners in the townships of Chandler, McKinley, Winsor, Caseville, Lake and Oliver, who are three years of age or older, are eligible to register for free library cards. Children under 18 years of age must have the application signed by a parent or legal guardian.
1. Library card must be presented each time you borrow material.
2. No materials may be checked out without a valid library card or photo ID.
3. Each borrower is financially responsible for loss or damage to materials checked out on the card. Parents are responsible for all materials checked out on their child's card.
4. A $1.00 fee will be charged for the replacement of a lost or stolen card.
5. Borrowed materials must be returned within the proper loan period. Some materials may be renewed.
6. Borrowing privileges
may be suspended or revoked for violation of existing rules and regulations.
Anyone who does not live or own property in any of the above mentioned townships may purchase a library card for a fee of $40.00 per family per year or $15.00 per family per 3-month period.
Card fees will be waived for:
1. volunteers and members of the Friends of the Pigeon District Library who live outside the service area of the Pigeon District Library.
2. students who live outside the library service area but attend a school (through gr. 12) that is located in Caseville, Chandler, Lake, McKinley, Oliver, or Winsor Township.
Book Renewals: Most library materials can be renewed once if there are no "reserves" on the materials. The renewal period extends the items by another loan period.
Reserves: Reserves may be placed on most items in the library catalog. Patrons may place their own reserves using the library catalog or by asking a staff member for assistance. Videos may not be reserved.
Donations: The library welcomes and appreciates monetary and book donations (and these items are tax deductible). Monetary or book donations may be made at the Circulation Desk where a staff member will accept your donation and issue a receipt. Book donations are either added to the library collection or used for the Used Book Sale during the Pigeon Farmers' Festival in July.
Inclement Weather:
When the weather outside gets frightful, please call the library or listen to WLEW to make sure the library will be open for your reading needs.
