Quarterly General Meeting Minutes
August 16, 2007
I. Call to order by Colleen Forman Date: August 16, 2007, 6:06 P.M.
II. Attendance: Colleen Forman, Barb Main, Carol Suttkus, Jeanette Bach, Mary Dast, Sue Herford, Jane Himmel, Kathy Kent
III. Reading of the May Meeting Minutes by: All present.
Motion: To accept the May Meeting Minutes

IV. Officer Reports
- Treasurer: June August 2007 beginning balance was $1,740.92. Expenses totaled $124.50. Deposits totaled $1,592.00. Ending balance as of 8/16/07 is $3,208.42.

- Secretary: The Secretary handed out a membership list and asked members to report any changes or corrections to her. A corrected list was sent via e-mail to all members a few days later.
V. Committee Reports:
- The annual Farmer's Festival used book sale went very well. As shows in the Treasurer's report, the sale netted $1,419.25.
- Jeanette Bach requested that the Friend's consider paying for half the cost of the newspaper ads that featured the quilt show and the book sale, as we did last year. Half of the cost equals $64.23.
Motion: To pay half of the advertising costs for the Farmer's Festival events at the library

VI. Special Reports: None
VII. Old Business:
· Colleen Forman and Kathy Kent will update the FOPDL bank account with the new secretary's name.
· Bill Diller of the Thumb Arts Guild sent a thank you card regarding the May 2007 Spring Arts Exhibit
· Carol Suttkus investigated the PO Box issue of returned mail. She found that despite paying the rental for the box, it had been closed. It has now been re-opened.
· Carol Suttkus also mentioned that she and Dan Suttkus may be resigning from the Executive Board in February 2008.
VIII. New Business:
· Jane Himmel proposed a silent auction to raise funds for the library, of which some could be designated for Story Hour. The group discussed holding it during a Chamber of Commerce event such as the Christmas tree lighting in late November. Jane will research dates and times and gather more detail. A Special Committee was formed consisting of Jane Himmel, Barb Main, and Kathy Kent.

· Jeanette Bach requested that the FOPDL donate the purchase price for a new PC in the library. The PC was needed in order to provide a Windows Vista operating system with extra memory capabilities. Jeanette also proposed that a brass plate reading "Gift from the Friends of the Pigeon District Library" be affixed to the monitor.

· Colleen Forman passed out Younker's Community Day Sale coupon booklets. The sale takes place November 10th and the booklets are $5.00 each. Colleen asked that members selling booklets report their sales each Thursday.
