VII. Old Business:
· Hobby and Craft Show update Jane Himmel reported that the show went well. There were 112 visitors, and $80.00 in table fees was collected. Some of the participants requested that a show be held in the fall.
· Thumb Arts Guild Spring Exhibit Jane Himmel reported that this exhibit starts today. The Guild was able to find sufficient greeters for the exhibit.
· Scholastic Book Fair update Jeanette Bach reported that the sale was a success. Sales totaled $1331.21, which meant that the library was able to choose over $500.00 in books from the sale selection. Fifteen books were processed into the library collection and bookplates were placed in these, citing them a gift from the Friends. Sixty-five additional books were pulled from the sale books, and these will be given to summer reading program participants. The only drawback to the book selection sent by Scholastic was the lack of adult books. However they did include a Clifford the Dog costume and this was a nice draw on Saturday, May 12th. Those present discussed making the book fair an annual event, though a particular month was not chosen. Additionally, a request for more volunteers was made, especially for set-up and teardown.
VIII. New Business:
· Change to quarterly General Meetings All present discussed and agreed upon a change to a quarterly meeting schedule. Any Committees will meet as necessary, but the group as a whole will meet quarterly beginning in August 2007. All agreed to meet on the third Thursday of the month, every three months, beginning August 16th, when we will meet at 6:00 P.M. In order to keep the group informed of all activities, Committees will send reports from their meetings to all members via e-mail. Jeanette Bach will change the Friend's brochures to reflect the new meeting times.
Motion: To change to quarterly General Meeting schedule.
Made by: Jane Gregson Seconded by: Jeanette Bach Vote: carried.
· Visiting author Jeanette Bach reported that Jonathan Rand, author of the "Michigan Chillers" book series, is not available in the summer months. At this time Jeanette is in contact with another Michigan author that may be able to give a presentation this summer. This author has a significantly smaller honorarium/fee. Further discussion on scheduling Jonathan Rand will take place at the next General Meeting in August.
· Farmer's Festival Used Book Sale A committee was formed to address the coordination of the annual used book sale. Kathy Kent, Colleen Forman, Barb Main, and Jane Himmel will meet separately to discuss what needs to be done before the July sale. Kathy will put together a plan of action and will assemble a list of volunteers from last year's sale. No monthly book sale will be held in July or August due to the proximity of the Independence Day holiday and the Farmer's Festival Book sale, respectively.
· Returned Mail Carol Suttkus will contact the post office in regard to two bank statements that were returned undeliverable to the bank.
IX. Announcements:
· Membership dues Jane Gregson has paid her 2007 dues. Carol Suttkus will pay the annual dues for herself and Dan Suttkus.
· Jeanette Bach invited Colleen Forman to attend the next Library Board meeting to inform the Board on recent FOPDL activities. Colleen will attend the meeting on June 21, 2007.
Motion: For adjournment. Made by: Jeanette Bach Seconded by: Barb Main Vote: Carried Notes: Meeting adjourned at 10:37 A.M.X. Adjournment by Colleen Forman.
