Saturday – 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
 


LAP-SIT STORY TIME AND PRESCHOOL STORY HOUR


A half-hour Lap-Sit Story Time is usually held for toddlers at 10:00 AM, with parent and child attending the story time. A PreSchool Story Hour is held at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs, and crafts. There is no cost for this service, and new families are always welcome. For more information, please call the library at 453-2341 and ask for Jane Himmel.


SUMMER READING PROGRAM

"Build A Better World"

June 19th - July 24th

Registration for the SRP begins June 5th --June 19th.


Open to children grades DK-8 who live in: Caseville, Chandler, Fairhaven, Mckinley, Oliver, or Winsor Townships.   Please remember to bring your library card when you register.  For more info, see our Library Events page or please call: 989-453-2341.

BOOK CLUB


The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, JuLYy25th at 6:30 PM. The book for this month is   "People of the Book " by Geraldine Brooks.  If you or someone you know would like to join us for a discussion, please call the library and ask for Jane Himmel.

LIBRARY BOARD MEETING


The Pigeon District Library Board of Trustees will be having a meeting on Thursday, June 22nd.  Meetings typically take place at 4:30 PM in the library's Community Room. The meetings are open to the public.


HAWG MEETING


The Huron Area Writers Group (HAWG) will have their next meeting on Thursday, July 20th at 6:30 PM in the library's Community Room. Writers of all skill levels and ages are encouraged to attend.


JUNIOR JIVE – EVERY FRIDAY!


Come and join us for Junior Jive! The program begins at 11:00 AM. Registration forms are available at the Pigeon District Library. Absolutely no fees are collected, and new families are always welcome. Come join us for some musical fun and the chance to get those bodies jiving!


KNITTING GROUP


A local knitting group is holding its meetings at the library.  Meetings will typically take place in the Community Room from 1 to 3 pm. Meetings have been postponed for the summer & will resume in the fall.

THURSDAY REFRESHMENTS


Water and Lemonade is available on Thursdays at the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee while studying, reading the newspaper, or visiting with fellow readers in the revamped Reference Room!


COMING ATTRACTIONS


The Pigeon District Library houses an extensive DVD collection which is being continuously updated. New movies which are scheduled to be released and which will be available for checkout during the month of March include: Shaun the Sheep Animal Antics, Song to Song, The Zookeeper's Wife, The Fate of the Furious, The Lost City of Z, Smurfs: The Lost Village, Their Finest, Kong: Skull Island, The Other Half, The Promise, Tommy's Honour, The Baby Boss, Gifted .


The rental details for movies are as follows:

- New DVD's $2 for two (2) days,

- New TV Series $2 for four (4) days,

- Old DVD's and TV Series $1 for one (1) week.*


*Old Children and Family DVD's and TV Series (limit 5) will have no rental charge as of October 1st, 2015.

As a reminder, all DVD's are still subject to a fine of $1.00 for each day they are overdue.
