The staff at the Pigeon District Library would like to introduce reading early to their patrons' children. This helps in the development of language skills, vocabulary, and can also prepare children to enter Kindergarten. Parents, you are your child's first teacher.

The goal is to read one book per day/night to your child. Children under Kindergarten age qualify for this event. The staff will keep track of your reading  using a book chart. Some children have favorites, which may be repeated. The key is to read to them and make it fun.

If you have any questions about the program, please call the library and ask for Jane Himmel - Program Coordinator at 453-2341. Also, an information sheet will be available for patrons to take. Let's have fun  and read 1000 books before kindergarten!
